American Idol XIII
Singing
saga continues
By
Demi Braque
From
Kelly Clarkson to Philip Philips, including a bevy of sensational finalists as
Jasmine Trias, David Archuleta and Jessica Sanchez, American Idol has set a
trailblazing path in the history of vocal talent searches.
Hosted
by Ryan Seacrest, and featuring judges Harry Connick Jr., Keith Urban, and
Jennifer Lopez, along with in-house mentor Randy Jackson, the series continues
its search across America to find the next singing superstar.
This
year, the judges travel to Atlanta (Georgia), Austin (Texas), Boston
(Massachusetts), Detroit (Michigan), Salt Lake City (Utah), and San Francisco
(California). With years of experience as acclaimed artists, it is up to them
to narrow down the competitors to a select group of semi-finalists who will
sing in a live studio in front of a TV audience. From thereon, the viewing
public determines who will advance to become finalist and, ultimately, the
season’s winner.
With
the introduction of ETC streaming online, viewers have no reason to miss the
latest episodes of American Idol XIII. Simply log-on to http://www.blink-now.com and register for free
to watch ETC’s live streaming on your computer or mobile device.
Just
like the contestants on American Idol, ETC wants to know “Who do you sing for?”
as they give viewers their shot at fame with RTC’s Road to Fame Challenge. If
you’re a passionate singer or simply want to share your voice with the world,
then upload a 15-second video of yourself singing a cover of your favorite
music artist on Instagram and telling viewers who do you sing for with the
hashtag #aionetc. Ten of the chosen as best performers from the hash-tagged and
uploaded videos will be aired during the all-new episodes of American Idol
XIII.
American
Idol XIII premieres tonight, Jan. 16th live via satellite at 6pm
with a primetime telecast at 8pm; and the following day, Jan. 17th
at 6pm with a primetime telecast at 9pm.
ETC
is seen on UHF Channel 21, Sky Cable and Destiny Digital Channel 16, Global
Destiny Channel 28, Cignal Channel 9, Cable Link Channel 34 and various cable
operators across the archipelago.
Campus
choristers can also step up to the microphone and sing their hearts out for
their respective schools. In the spirit of hit musical shows AI and Glee, ETC
is calling on college students of Metro Manila to join Vocapella, an
inter-school a capella competition; as a chance to harmonize with classmates or
schoolmates and show off true potential as performers for a chance of winning
the grand prize of P200,000!
Simply
form a singing group of six members from the school you all are currently
enrolled in and video
yourselves
performing a medley of songs. Entries must be 3-5 minutes. Once you are happy
with your video, upload it to YouTube and send the link to etc.marketing@solar-entertainment,com or thru snail mail to
Solar Entertainment Office, 2F Worldwide Corporate Center, EDSA, Mandaluyong
City.
ETC
will then choose the best entries and call on the groups to submit a second
video performance that will be uploaded for audience voting on ETC’s Web site.
The groups with the most votes will then perform against each other in front of
a live audience and a panel of judges made up of industry professionals.
Performances will be judged based on harmony, song choice &arrangement,
audience impact, costume and choreography. ETC Vocapella will be launched next
month, watch out for on-air details and updates thru ETC’s social media accounts.
