Love for
oneself is the kind of self-empowerment that iron-booster Sangobion would like
to advocate to women all over. The demands of modern life often make distaff
feel pressured both at home and at work; making it easy for women to neglect
themselves in the process.
The
Sangobion “Go Love Life!” campaign launch reminded each one that while women
take care of others, they must not forget to take care of themselves first.
When anyone is at their best self, it is only then that they get to lead the
life they love to live.
“The
prevalence of anemia in the Philippines is high. This happens to women who are
lactating and childbearing as well as to the elderly. The production of red
blood cells is the source of hemoglobin. The level of hemoglobin in the body
must be 12 grams per deciliter for non-pregnant women and 11g/dl for pregnant
women. If the red blood cells are low then oxygen carried to the organ systems
is also low. Iron deficiency is the most common type of anemia,” revealed
obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Sylvia Carnero.
The
event demonstrated to women how regularly taking time off and boosting one’s
health can help one go about and embrace life. Unlike other iron supplements,
Sangobion contains Ferrous gluconate, an organic iron, that is absorbed better
by the body to help fight the signs of iron deficiency.
“Iron is
absorbed in the gastro-intestinal tract. Ingesting inorganic sources like ferrous
sulfate irritates the tract. Iron, together with folate and Vit. B12, are
required for healthy blood production. During pregnancy, the levels of
Homocysteine is high in the body and very neurotoxic. If unchecked, this can be
the cause of miscarriages. Folic acid corrects neural tube defects aside from
making sure the unborn child has a correct spine formation (spina bifida),” she
added.
Each
capsule is chocolate-coated, leaving no iron aftertaste. Sangobion also
contains essential vitamins and minerals like Vit. C, folic acid (folate), Vit.
B12, copper and manganese to help build healthy red blood cells and boost the
immune system. It also contains sorbitol which acts as anti-constipating agent,
as this result, generally, in cases of iron supplementation.
“Diet is
important because it is the source of iron and folate. If adequate sources are
present in meals, the right amounts needed by our bodies are met. Folate
reduces the risk of autism, prevents congenital heart disease and decreases the
risk of vascular disease. When folate corrects homocysteine levels, women
decrease the risk to contract breast and/or cervical cancer as well as a
reduced risk in acquiring vascular dementia (Alzheimer’s disease). Vit. C, on
the other hand, facilitates the absorption of iron unto the body,” expounded
Dr. Carnero.
Sangobion
fights the signs of iron deficiency like fatigue, paleness, dizziness, and lack
of focus and concentration which women experience when they neglect themselves.
Taking it everyday can help boost the daily iron requirement of 30mg, as
advised by the World Health Organization.
“Pallor,
lack of concentration/focus, shortness of breath, dizziness and headaches are
some of the signs of iron deficiency. Those undergoing periods of menstruation,
pregnancy, child birth and lactation are the most prone to anemia,” Dr. Carnero
concluded.
Coinciding
with the launch was the kick-off for the 15-day challenge. In addition to
taking Sangobion daily for 15 days, women attendees also made the pledge to
practice loving themselves first and to encourage others to do the same. “I
took the challenge and it afforded me more energy to look after my hubby and
our dog,” shared model Kelly Misa.
Sangobion
also partnered with Celebrity Nails and Blow Bar in treating attendees to a
pampering session of hair and nails makeover. The brand’s new efforts truly
showed women that caring for others also meant having a healthy relationship
with oneself. After all, it is in loving yourself first that enables one to
share themselves to others.
