 National director leaves Miss Universe for Miss Earth

After a slew of severed ties from various national organizations with the Miss Universe Organization, another country - Slovak Republic - also ended its partnership with the MUO.

"After 24 years of competition with the Miss Universe Organization, I have decided not to continue and delegate a contestant to the world finals of Miss Universe 2023. I have been considering my decision for five years and it finally came after this year's world finals in New Orleans," explained Slovak Republic national director Silvia Lakatosova.

However, she does not want to completely leave the world of pageantry and the beauty business. She would only like to change their foreign partner.

"It doesn't mean that I want to completely quit Miss and the beauty business. I just want to choose other foreign partners for cooperation within the so-called Big Four international pageants. We will cooperate with Miss Earth, whose main environmental idea and saving the planet appeals to me more and is close to me," she added.

Last year, Karolina Michalcikova historically became the last Miss Universe Slovak Republic queen. 

Silvia Lakatosova was part of the Top 6 finalists in the Miss Universe 1994 edition, held in Manila, which included Binibining Pilipinas Universe Charlene Gonzales and eventual winner Sushmita Sen of India.

Lakatosova will announce hereinafter Miss Earth Slovak Republic, who will compete with other national delegates in the forthcoming Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam.
