AMPAS members vote for nominations list

The voting for the Oscar nominations list has officially begun. Members of the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts & Sciences (AMPAS) have started casting their choices on who gets to be in the categories where their votes are needed, such as performances (Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress) and films (Best Picture, Best Animated Feature, Best International Feature, Best Documentary Feature), and the like.
The technical awards will be voted on by each of the respective guild members of specific categories like Cinematography and Directing, to name a few. This goes for the textual categories, too, where member playwrights of the writers guild vote for the Best Original and Adapted Screenplay.
The Oscar nomination voting ends on Tues, Jan 16 at 5 pm PT.
The official nominees in each of the 23 categories will be announced on Jan 23, and AMPAS members will commence final voting on January 27.

- Best Director
- Best Actor
- Best Actress
- Best Supporting Actor
- Best Supporting Actress
- Best Original Screenplay
- Best Adapted Screenplay
- Best International Feature
- Best Animated Feature
- Best Original Score
- Best Original Song
- Best Cinematography
- Best Film Editing
- Best Visual Effects
- Best Costume Design
- Best Sound
- Best Documentary Feature
- Best Documentary Short Subject
- Best Animated Shorts
- Best Live Action Shorts
- Best Makeup/Hairstyling, and
- Best Production Design
The 96th Academy Awards unfolds on March 10, 2024 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. Produced by Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan, the much-anticipated annual event will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and will be aired live on the ABC network.
