Janelis Leyba of the United States of America was crowned the new Miss Asia Pacific International titleholder in glitzy rites at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. She was crowned by outgoing queen Chaiyenne Huisman of Spain, who will go down pageant history as the longest reigning titleholder - holding the title for five years!
Karen Sofia Nuñez of Mexico, Selena Ali of Belgium (Continental Queen of Europe), Blessa Ericha Figueroa of the Philippines, and Jennifer Prokop of Germany (Best in Swimsuit) were proclaimed runners-up in descending order.
The five other lucky delegates who made it to the Top 10 were Sweden, New Zealand, Vietnam (winner of the Best in National Costume), Canada, and Thailand (winner of Best in Evening Gown and People's Choice Award recipient).
The other semifinalists (Top 20) included the fast-track challenge winners, together with India (Continental Queen of Asia), Nigeria (Continental Queen of Africa), Bolivia (Continental Queen of the Americas), and Reshia Lee Llaneras (Continental Queen of Oceania and voted upon as Miss Congeniality); as well as the delegates from Canada, Venezuela, Singapore, Colombia, Hong Kong, Netherlands, and France.
This year's selection committee is comprised of Brian Ong, Arnel Palmera, Renee Salud, Paolo Duarte, Carell Herrera, Atty. Florentino Garces, Raymond Gabriel, Wilbert Tolentino, and Rafael Gonzales.
Hosted by Marc Nelson and Joey Mead King, the 4-hour extravaganza was beamed live to a global audience through several streaming channels on YouTube.
