An Iconic Light Up

 Crowne Plaza lights tree with Autism Society PH

Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria lighted its rose-hued tree at the spacious hotel lobby, with members from the Autism Society of the Philippines (ASP). Simply dubbed "An Iconic Light Up," the event celebrated the hotel's CSR efforts. Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte graced the occasion.

"We are collaborating with ASP for our Hotelier for a Day Program. It aims to transform people and their perspectives - who/how to deal with them. Their members provide enjoyment to us and our guests. In turn, we provide training to our collaborators. This year, a few of their members helped man the front office, as well as serve guests in our restaurants like Xin Tian Di and Seven Corners. The program aims to make people more aware, inclusive, and accepting of tbose within the autism spectrum," shared Crowne Plaza general manager Pat Puyat.

Danica, an A5 spectrum member (the highest category), performed a few Christmas carols to the glee of attendees. Another member, Luis Gatchalian, performed a piano solo of Jose Marie Chan's holiday songs that prompted the audience to sing along with the tunes.

Recently honored with the Manuel L. Quezon Gawad Parangal, the ASP is a national, non-profit organization creating environment for people under the autism spectrum.

"The ASP started with 11 mothers in 1989. Today, we have over 16,000 members and the numbers are rising. While we are headquartered in Quezon City, we are archipelagic in reach," shared ASP national president LJ Sumulong.

Madame Puyat also manages Crowne's sister property, The Holiday Inn Ortigas.

"As to our hotels, we have transformed our guest rooms across all room categories. We've renovated both our hotels, including the public places. Returning guests will be delighted with the changes we've made," Madame Puyat said in closing.
