Pageant of the World
Search for cultural ambassadors greenlit
By Demi Braque
Pageant of the World, one of the most promising international competitions, will hold the first Philippine national search for exceptional Filipino men and women for the chance to represent the Philippines in the Land Down Under.
At an intimate press confab held recently at the Numero Onse in Quezon City, female entrants from Cavite, Manila, Bulacan, Surigao del Sur, Muntinlupa, and Batangas; as well as male delegates from San Mateo, Quezon City, Laguna, Bacoor, Santa Rosa, Bataan, Pangasinan and San Pascual gamely answered queries thrown by members of the pageant media.
Both male and female national winners will fly to Sydney to represent the country in the fifth edition of Pageant of the World - a competition that aims to "conquer the beauty, the culture across Australia and the world." It also aspires to "outgrow and radically veer away from the traditional mold of beauty pageants per se; by modernizing and enlarging the concept into an integral health, beauty, charity, and socio-economic deed."
"Before this national search, we simply handpicked our Philippine representative and, in both times, they landed as 1st runners-up. So now, with the holding of a national pageant, we will bring to fruition our sights for the crown.
"There will 12 girls and 12 boys in each division. For the provincial qualifiers, we screened them online. This platform is stress-free, has a lesser number of pre-pageant events, and has no national costume competition to do away with more expenditures.
"Aside from the national title, and a visa for Australia, the ultimate winners will also receive a 6-month scholarship, on top of the cash prize and other corporate awards.
Pageant of the World is a multi-cultural platform with its festival-like format. It welcomes everyone as they share their unique culture to the rest of the world," intimated national director Bing Cristobal.
Pageant of the World Philippines encourages the Filipino youth to uphold beauty with substance, virtue and character, in accordance with the international competition's four pillars: Compassionate Service, Social Responsibility, Culture Promotion & Education, and Respect & Fellowship.
Going by the tagline "Enrich, Engage, Excite," the 2023 coronation night will unfold at the Teatrino Greenhills on August 1. The show will be broadcast live over Channel 107 on CignalTV, and via livestream on the Uplive app. Each of the top winners will receive a cash prize of P 150,000 while their runners-up, who will be named Prince and Princess, will each receive P 100,000. Stay tuned!
