ATeacher party list representative, Cong. Virginia Rodriguez, received the Lifetime Achievement honors (in Public Service) from Best Magazine during the 6th Faces of Success awarding ceremonies held recently at the Teatrino Greenhills in San Juan City.
An advocate for sufficient and sustainable food production, Cong. Rodriguez authored "Leave Nobody Hungry," a handbook geared to help farmers cope with the high cost of production; especially on the cost of fertilizers.
"I got hold of modern technology and technique in farming and I want to share this knowledge with our hardworking farmers. Aside from disseminating this valuable know-how, we also continue with our feeding programs and food caravans. It is the aim of this advocacy that no student should go to class hungry, " shared the lawmaker, moments after receiving the evening's accolade.
Cong. Rodriguez started her pilot project in Nueva Ecija. Her advocacy project started before the global pandemic, and continues to help farmers gain from their produce. Cost-wise the organic fertilizer produced through the shared technology/technique would be priced seven-times lower than commercial, synthetic fertilizers; aside from lowering the glycemic index that would make the farmed variety cancer-free.
Corollary to this revolutionary farming technique, Cong. Rodriguez also came up with the BGMax food supplement that would lower the body's sugar levels, especially for those prone to ingesting junk foods.
"We offer free seminars to our farmers and they themselves would create the organic fertilizer from waste and garbage around them. We transfer the modern technology as additional knowledge before they create their respective compost pits," shared Cong. Rodriguez in an interview.
