Top twelve picks for best performing entrants
By Earl D.C. Bracamonte
A day before the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 grand coronation night, nerves are frazzled, jitters are high, and the adrenalin flow is sky-rocketing. This is the moment where the much needed mental fortitude comes in. It allows an aspirant to traipse through all the noise, physically and virtually, unscathed.
Based on the recently-concluded preliminaries, and the former five challenges, we came up with twelve delegates who we feel have a real chance at the crown. They are, in random order:
- Steffi Rose Aberasturi of Cebu Province
- Katrina Jayne Dimaranan of Taguig
- Beatrice Luigi Gomez of Cebu City
- Kirsten Danielle Delavin of Masbate
- Leren Mae Bautista of Laguna
- Victoria Velasquez Vincent of Cavite
- Izabella Jasmine Umali of Manila
- Chella Grace Falconer of Misamis Oriental
- Maureen Christa Wroblewitz of Pangasinan
- Janela Joy Cuaton of Albay
- Christelle Abello of Aklan, and
- Princess Khrista Singh of Pasig
An interesting photo has been posted on the MUPh social media accounts, fueling some electrically-charged grapevine fodder. It said three titles will be handed out (Miss Universe Philippines 2021, Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2021, and Miss Universe Philippines Tourism 2021), instead of just one, and two runners-up. This will get off some steam from a very tightly-raced Top 5, not just by the contestants but by their respective teams and avid followers. This is better than a lone winner which could create much mud-slinging online.
Lastly, lest we forget, no matter how strongly we feel about a particular candidate, the outcome is never guaranteed. El tocuyo is real! Year-in and year-out, in both local and international quests, there will always be that frontrunner who eludes victory. If your stars don't align, no matter how much you strive, nothing will come of it. With the final show looming in the horizon, let's all hope tomorrow's selection will herald a winner who will continue the country's winning streak!
