Pangasinan
Mau finds fun in MUPh tourism video
By Earl D.C. Bracamonte
Asia's Next Top Model season 5 winner Maureen Christa Wroblewitz has represented her province, splendidly, as shown by her stellar performances in all of the five challenges leading to the Final 30.
In her tourism video, Mau, as family and friends call her, invited viewers to hie off to the Hundred Islands, join the revelry of its Bangus Festival, be a pilgrim at the San Vicente Ferrer and Lady of Manaoag churches, as well as sample its many tasty delicacies.
"Panablin luyag kon Pangasinan! Naimbag nga adlaw kada yo amin! Join me as I revisit and rediscover my beloved province and my home. Here in the northeast tip of the Philippines is a land of salt. The name is derived from 'asin' but the people are sweet and welcoming. We felt this as we set our feet on my hometown, Rosales, the gateway to the north. What better way to know Pangasinan than from its locals. And they only have one thing to say, 'Welcome!'
"Staying true to this are the Bangus Festival and Pistay Daya. When these were halted, people relived why these festivals are celebrated - thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest, home to our Lady of Manaoag, the tallest bamboo statue of San Vicente Ferrer, historical gulf and beaches, an international seaport in the making, the famous Hundred Islands, and millions of jubilant Pangasinense - altogether validate that Pangasinan has beauty and wonder to offer. And a breath of fresh air!
"It is also in these wonders that locals get what sustain their families. What do they do with it? These local delicacies! One perfect way to seize the moment while you're here. Ummm . . . masamsamit! And more . . .
"Pangasinan's tourism industry was afflicted by the challenges brought by time. Hotels and resorts redesigned their operations to ensure our safety. May these changes and challenges inspire you, us, to take better steps - coz nature's marvels and adventures await us. We truly find fun in Pangasinan!"
Catch Mau and her 27 MUPh sisters as they fly to Bohol to prepare for the grand coronation night. Stay tuned for more exciting updates in the few remaining days leading to the final show.
