Setting the stage for third pageant season

The month of love is upon us and, in a few days, aspirants to the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh) title will be submitting their applications for consideration.

The Miss Universe Philippines organization, in turn, published guidelines for aspirants to follow. Candidates must be:

1) 18 and under 28 years old at the time of the Miss Universe Philippines pageant

2) A Filipino citizen and holder of a Philippine passport

3) Female, never been married, and never have been pregnant

And there is no minimum height requirement.

Pageant fans from all around the world have their respective bets on who they think should compete for the national crown. MUPh national director, Shamcey Supsup-Lee, in a message, wrote, "I support all the fans. As long as the girl is willing . . . Don't pressure them as well. Every girl has their own timeline. Respect if 'di pa siya ready.

"If they're ready, we'll welcome them with open arms. Ang masasabi ko lang, we always play fair in MUPh. We give every girl a fair chance. Not because (previous) winner eh shoo-in na. If they deserve it and they're destined for that night, yun! Di ba?"

Meanwhile, the Miss Universe Organization sent an email to all national directors informing them to select/appoint their respective representatives for the 71st edition by September 12, 2022. I guess the MUO does not want to have their annual pageant clash with the FIFA World Cup 2022 schedule that's slated to happen towards the end of the year.

After the MUPh sets the deadline for the filing of applications, it will only be a matter of days for the pageant community to know who got into the official aspirants list. And from then on, the weekly challenges will commence. 

With no specific venue, as yet, for the final show, the Miss Universe Philippines organization, through its social media pages, confirmed that the coronation night will be on April 30, 2022. Stay tuned!
