Miss Grand Philippines 2020 Samantha Bernardo ranked second in the 1-minute get-to-know-you challenge given by the Miss Grand International to the 63 official candidates, who were all under quarantine at the Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel in Bangkok. Miss Grand Indonesia Aurra Kharisma was ranked at the top of the list.
The other candidates who were in the Top 10 list, in descending order, were Chily Tevy (Cambodia), Angela Yuriar (Mexico), Sonia Luna Menendez (Ecuador), Lala Guedes (Brazil), Mariana Varela (Argentina), Ivana Elizabeth Batchelor (Guatemala), and Nguyen Le Ngoc Thao (Vietnam).
The official announcement also named five other candidates under the Lucky Draw for the same challenge. They were Frontila Gashi (Kosovo), Stephanie Wyatt (England), Ruri Saji (Japan), Faviola Valentin Gonzalez (Puerto Rico), and Han Lay (Myanmar).
In celebration of International Women's Day, the organizers gave a new challenge for all the candidates. They were to dress up in a provided Thai costume in five minutes.
Meanwhile, Sam, together with her mentors from the Kagandahang Flores (KF) camp as well as her SamBernation fans, decided to call her pasarela as "Grandnada Walk." Her gait was so-named because her brand of walk had an 'explosive effect' on stage.
Sam's discourse with Miss Grand Russia, Guzel Musina, on Instagram was closely watched by fans and followers of the two candidates, as well as pageant aficionados from all around the world.
As the first entrant to arrive in Bangkok, Sam will complete her quarantine confinement by tomorrow, but will wait for another day for her swab results.
