By Earl D.C. Bracamonte
The Depadtment of Environment & Natural Resources (DENR) lauded not only Carousel Production' celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Miss Earth pageant, but also its consistent and continuing efforts to save our planet.
In his speech, Undersecretary for Legal & Administrative Affairs Ernesto Adobo said that love for nature is one of the measures for beauty.
"The DENR is proud to be your partner in sustainable development and initiatives consistent with the United Nations' sustainable development goals (SDGs). The Miss Earth pageant is pivotal to resource management, and instrumental to solutions for problems of the times.
"The Miss Earth's silver year is a timely reminder of our planetary crisis and pollution; including the bleak circumstances we are experiencing. Our Earth queens have worked tirelessly for the environment," continued USec Adobo, who spoke in behalf of Sec. Raphael Perpetuo at the DENR Multi-purpose Hall in Quezon City.
Members of the Designers Circle of the Philippines (DCP) created beautiful Terno and Filipiniana designs for the delegates. Four candidates were named as Best in Terno as winners for each continent. They were:
Haley Po - (USA for the Americas)
Marie-Laure JuppindeFondaumiere - (Reunion Island for Africa)
Sanne Esmee Walstra - (Netherlands for Europe), and
Joy Barcoma (Philippines for Asia & Oceania)
Halloween weekend saw the prejudging of the Face, as well as Figure & Form, of the 2025 delegates. Interestingly, the candidates wore minimal or no makeup at all during the Face evaluation.
