Camp Nivea

Stay sun-safe this summer
By Earl D.C. Bracamonte

Planning to hit the beach and/or pool with your friends some time soon? Or are you thinking of engaging in exciting sports activities to get you all pumped up? Whatever you have in mind, be sure your skin is protected by staying sun-safe.

At the recently-concluded Nivea Camp, everybody was amply covered from face to toes!

Do not be deceived by cloudy, overcast or cooler days because sun rays still remain strong even when it is shady. "Teens are the brand's new target group. This is the first celebrity teen camp in the country. Our teen line has more sensory features for noticeably wow effects. Teenagers need affirmation and identity. It is their time for new product discoveries and new relationships. They want to start a trend and want to set it. Boys differ greatly from girls and our products reflect this. Boys have the Menergy line while girls have Angel Care, the latter in balanced, moisturizing formulas with raspberry scents including shimmering pink lip care," informed marketing director Rica King.

A plethora of activities can be enjoyed under the sun, especially those that involve water: may it be fresh- or salt-water; natural or man-made.

"There are no white traces as before. This invisible protection leaves a non-greasy finish and fresh-skin feeling. This award-winning immediate protection feature sets in upon application. Enjoy superior sun protection that is totally transparent as the new Nivea Sun Invisible Protection Spray is a hundred percent invisible that feels incredibly light and cool on the skin. The SPF-30 alcohol-based formulation is non-greasy and water-resistant; providing immediate and reliable sun protection for your many outings. No more unsightly white marks, like what some sunscreens leave, on the skin," Rica added.

It is tempting to spend the entire day outdoors but be aware that there are limits. Steer clear of the sun from 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon because it is during these hours that radiant energy is at its most intense. If you have a physical activity to do outdoors, do it earlier in the morning or evening but never in the heat of midday!

When you go swimming, walking along the shore or enjoying an intense outdoor activity, it is important to remain hydrated. Water is the best choice but if you are exercising regularly, a sports drink might help replace lost electrolytes. Never even think about alcohol-laced beverages because they will make you more dehydrated.

Moreover, make skin protection a parent & child activity so team-up and stay protected before venturing out into the open. Generously apply sunscreen and pay extra attention to the nose, earlobes, hands, feet, shoulders and nape. Reapply every 2 to 3 hours or after swimming and toweling-off.

For the younger set, Nivea Sun Swim & Play protection lotion is the ultimate sunblock for kids. Enriched with Dexpanthenol, it protects the skin barrier to prevent it from drying-out even when submerged in water for long periods of time. Its extra water-resistant formula provides long-lasting UVA and UVB protection specially formulated for the delicate skin of children.

And after all the fun under the scorching sun, slather your skin with Nivea After Sun Spray with Aloe Vera. Enriched with pro-vitamin B5 and Vitamin E, it restores skin moisture lost due to sun exposure.

This summer, experience the new look of the Nivea as all products, from lotion to sunscreens, come in the handy S-bottles. For more information, simply log-on to www.nivea.com. Also, check out the Camp Nivea fan page on Facebook for photos of the participants and the field games they competed in.
