By Earl D.C. Bracamonte

Blizzard, Dairy Queen’s famous and unique soft serve ice cream, celebrated its Silver Anniversary worldwide last month. Here in the country, Blizzard lovers can enjoy 25 exciting flavors, including 10 new mouthwatering varieties, to choose from. To add to the exciting anniversary celebration, fun activities and delightful treats are in store for Filipino Blizzard lovers.

Favorite flavor Oreo came up with additional yummy varieties like Chocolate Oreo, Strawberry Oreo, and Mocha Oreo on top of the existing Double Stuff Oreo. The scrumptious Kitkat line also introduced new lip-smacking varieties with Strawberry Kitkat and Mocha Kitkat. Other new delectable flavors include Double Chocolate Truffle, Caramel Marshmallow, Double Dutch, White Truffle, and the uniquely Filipino Ube Macapuno. The list of all-time favorites include Banana Split, Strawberry Banana, Rocky Road, Chocolate Almond, Chocolate Chips, Mud Pie, Butterfinger, Chocolate Extreme, Brownie Temptation, Caramel Cashew, Chocolate Covered Strawberry and Strawberry Brownie.

This is the first time that Dairy Queen is offering 25 flavors worldwide, including the Philippines, to commemorate a milestone in the company's history. Possessing the unique quality and consistency that Dairy Queen’s Blizzard has always been known for, all of the 25 flavors’ rich and creamy thickness are highlighted as they're served with a spoon upside down – a unique and impressive serving style that makes this soft serve ice cream variety truly one-of-a-kind. In fact, should the spoon fall when your order is served, it becomes free of charge!

Historically, the Blizzard first came out with 20 flavors and sold 75 million servings in North America during its first year alone. Today, there are over 100 unique Blizzard flavors served, making it the world’s biggest ice cream brand.

Dairy Queen in the Philippines has every reason to celebrate the unique Blizzard treat. The Ali Mall store is the 500th Dairy Queen outlet in the world, which makes it an important part of the famous brand’s history. Now with 28 stores all over Metro Manila, the brand has become more accessible to its loyal patrons.

To give its loyal patrons more reasons to celebrate the 25th anniversary with them, Dairy Queen came up with the Blizzard Frequency Card. This customer card gets a stamp for every purchase of any Blizzard flavor. After accumulating four stamps, a 25 percent markdown is taken off on the 4th Blizzard purchase.

Twenty five loyal Blizzard patrons who celebrated their birthdays last April were also invited, along with their select guests, to an exclusive birthday party at Dairy Queen in Ali Mall. No less than Iron Tip Cake Decorating Challenge winner Jose Castillo prepared 25 personalized birthday blizzard ice cream cakes for the celebrators. Party fun, food, and favors were on the house.
