The adage “you are what you eat” is based on the direct link science has established between dietary intake and one's radiantly healthy skin. Although what we apply on it is as important to achieving moisturized skin, the food that we eat certainly plays a very essential part.

This summer, Dove offers its Go fresh line of bath and beauty products. The combined formulation of ¼ hydrating milk with extracts from some of the strongest antioxidants known to man – lemongrass, grapefruit, cucumber and green tea – leaves skin refreshed, renewed and nourished.

There's the yellow 'Fresh Energizing' labels with lemongrass and grapefruit, and the green 'Fresh Moisture' labels with cucumber and green tea. It's skin food of the best kind.
Traditional medicine from around the world attests to the efficacy of plant and vegetable extracts in curing topical and internal ailments. The herbal extracts used in Dove's Go Fresh line of products are some of the best and strongest available to us.

All these wonderful plant extracts are available in every bottle or bar of Dove Go Fresh product. But for the summer, Dove made sure that the skin food we get is more than skin deep.

For the merry month of May, Dove has partnered with Chelsea Restaurant on a special menu that features the ingredients that make the Dove Go fresh line healthy to the skin. Chelsea's executive chef Kalel Chan has created sumptuous dishes that feature all four plant species. This skin-healthy menu is offered exclusively at all Chelsea Restaurants.

“We fused our Go Fresh soap ingredients to come up with a menu,” remarked assistant brand manager Simoun Ferrer.

Cucumber's cleansing action rids the body of accumulated waste and chemical toxins that cause ailments to the liver and kidneys. Its extracted juice is a great skin rejuvenator as it relaxes and calms skin irritation. It is likewise a refreshing beverage component.
We awakened our palate with the Apple Cucumber Cooler at the start of the meal.
Following this up with Grapefruit & roasted chicken summer salad, that healthy plate of fresh arugula drenched in citrus vinaigrette with corn bits and mustard sprouts. Our palates enjoyed the marriage of grapefruit's bitterness with the sweetness of honey. Delish!

Grapefruit is considered one of the world's 'superfruit' as it contains a combination of nutrients that help the body stave off cancer cells. Applied on the skin, grapefruit extract can reverse the ravages of aging, even those caused by environmental factors like UV rays and pollution.

First used in Brazil, lemongrass has been known as a cure-all for everything from flu to rheumatism. Taken with food (as spice) or as tea, it treats circulatory disorders and improves blood circulation. Topically applied, it is a strong antiseptic and astringent that has been used to cleanse oily skin and help close pores. It is also an effective deodorant and anti-perspirant because of its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

As food ingredient, it is equally zesty. Sample the Roasted seafood with lemongrass mint cream linguine, a tasty dish of tiger prawns, white fish and seared scallops with mint leaves.

Also, savor the essence of lemongrass in every bite of their Five Cheese Pizza, with five different cheeses smothered with Asian mushrooms.

Used as medicine in China for over four centuries, green tea is rich in a very important compound that has been proven to inhibit the growth of, and even kill, cancer cells. Taken as tea, it can improve the ratio of good and bad cholesterol in the body, and even kill the bacteria that causes tooth decay! So, go ahead, indulge in the Green tea tres leches dessert, knowing your dentine is out of harm's way. This light yet satiating sweet concoction from evaporated, condensed, and fresh milk mixed with green tea is a must-try!
