Seven Corners

Streetfood smorgasbord
By Earl D.C. Bracamonte

Seven Corners, the upscale dining destination of Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila, collaborates with one of the country's renowned culinary masters, Chef Bruce Lim, in coming up with scrumptious street food for their August lunch and dinner buffet spreads. The celebrity chef, entrepreneur and TV producer is showcasing delightfully prepared comfort chow amongst Seven Corners' interactive stations.
Chef Bruce is known for his wide range of specialties: from classic French and Italian cuisines to Euro-Asian and international flavors. He is likewise a master of Pinoy staples and exudes superior knowledge in sugar pulling and chocolate work.
Throughout the remaining days of August, Chef Bruce will display a fusion of unique Filipino dishes with a personal touch. Together with Seven Corners' culinary team, he joined forces with the restaurant's resident toques in perfecting all recipes he created for this partnership. We sampled a few of his dishes during a media luncheon that transpired after his cooking demo.
For appetizer, we had Tuna & Talmon Tartar, a plate of diced sashimi on a bed of cucumber slices. And for soup, we sampled his version of Iloilo's staple, batchoy; a bowl of noodles in hot beef broth complete with liver/pork slices as well as crispy chicaron bits.
Our palate cleanser came in the form of a light salad made of paco fern with pineapple vinaigrette topped with mangoes and chunks of kesong puti. The watercress in the greens mix gave off an interesting peppery aftertaste.
The main course of beef & poultry was a plate of Calamansi and Garlic Rubbed Striploin with lemongrass-marinated chicken served with malunggay pesto. And for a sweet ending, we had Buko Pie Shooters, an ingeniously concocted pastry dessert with the entire filling sitting atop the powdered crust!
“We at Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila pride ourselves on pleasing our guests' palate by ensuring a great dining experience in each of their visits. This partnership with Chef Bruce Lim is one of our initiatives to allow guests in exploring the unque flavors of multi-faceted Filipino cuisine,” shared F & B director Gibeth Gloria.
Part of the IHG global portfolio, the Crowne Plaza hotels & resorts brand is a dynamic upscale label located in nearly 65 countries around the world in major urban centers, gateway cities and resort destinations.
