Binibining Pilipinas-Intercontinental 2016 Jennifer Hammond will fly to Colombo on Monday, Oct. 3rd, to represent the country in the 45th Miss Intercontinental pageant.

“The support system for a Filipino beauty queen is top-notch! I did my research and have adjusted myself to what the pageant is looking for: somebody good in the runway and equally impressive in the Q&A. I’ll do my best, and show my best as a world-class Filipina,” shared Hammond during a media send-off at the Novotel’s Monet Ballroom in Quezon City.

Set in the Indian Ocean in South Asia, the tropical island nation of Sri Lanka has a history dating back to the birth of time. It is a place where the original soul of Buddhism still flourishes and where Nature’s beauty remains abundant.

The Miss Intercontinental is an annual international pageant run by the World Beauty Organization, with headquarters in Panama City. While its sash and crown have become pop-culture mainstays, the Miss Intercontinental event has grown to become an ultimate show for female beauty searches.

“I’ve seen your determination and strength of character. We, your other Binibini sisters, are all behind you. Your BPCI family will be cheering for you all throughout your journey,” enthused Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2016 Maxine Medina, in her send-off message.

The world has changed a lot over the years and the pageant has mirrored these changes by showcasing the diverse beauty of women from all over the world. Since 1971, the show has produced titleholders that are composed of accomplished women from different sectors of society: from government to business, finance, film, and fashion. These are all women of power, grace and commitment, imbued with intelligence, style, and substance.

In 2014, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) acquired the local franchise for the pageant and has sent Filipina delegates to compete therein. That year, Kris Tiffany Janson won 2nd Runner up, as well as being named Miss Photogenic and Continental Queen of Asia and Oceania. Last year, Christi Lynn McGarry won 1st Runner after being proclaimed Continental Queen of Asia and Oceania.

“Jenn, you do well in making things happen!” cheered Bb. Pilipinas-Globe 2016 Nicole Manalo.

The 45th Miss Intercontinental coronation night will unfold on Qct. 16. Those who wish to watch the pageant finals can simply log-on to the livestream broadcast via missintercontinental.com.
