The benefits of marine triglycerides

With lifestyle-related diseases becoming more and more prevalent in recent years, people are becoming more conscious of their health and well-being to somehow counter the effects brought about by our current way of living. Achieving proper nutrition, getting more physically active and avoiding vices and the sedentary lifestyle are becoming more than just a trend, but a necessity for today's consumers in pursuit of a longer, illness-free existence. Consumers are turning to nutritional supplements to support their overall health. While a number flood the market of late, end users continue to remain clueless as to the right supplement that effectively addresses all of their health concerns. The search for the optimum nutritional supplement that effectively delivers overall health benefits begins and ends with fish oil. More and more remarkable findings are being discovered that attribute to its superior nutritional benefits that's proven to fight off common to serious illnesses while boosting overall well-being.

International nutrition expert, Prof. Andrew J. Sinclair, a top nutrition luminary from Australia, was in the Philippines recently from Melbourne to meet with local health professionals in two symposia held at the Crowne Plaza Galleria and the Cebu Marriott hotels. His visit was part of efforts to educate the Filipino public on health significance of fish oil in our diet. Prof. Sinclair explained that recent studies highlight the value of fish oil, the natural oil present in tissues of oily fish, as essential in boosting health and preventing the onset of diseases brought about by unhealthy lifestyles, such as cancer and heart ailments. “Recent findings have placed fish oil to be an important ingredient in helping the adult body achieve optimum health. Its benefits can go as far as preventing many of today's fatal diseases.

While Omega 6 is present in almost every food we ingest, there's very little taken of Omega 3 so it's best to strike a balance,” he told mediamen during a closed door colloquy prior to the doctors' conference.

The health benefits of fish oil are attributable to our ingestion of the intrinsic nutrient known as Omega 3 or docosahexanoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentanoic acid (EPA). According to the professor, these fatty acids are found in tissues of oily, fatty fishes like sardines, mackerel, and herring which don't actually produce them but accumulate them either from consuming micro-algae that contain these fatty acids and/or from eating prey fish that have consumed the micro-algae. He further elucidated that these essential DHA/EPA fatty acids provide exceptional health benefits. They promote skin health by making it elastic as well as boost our cell's water and nutrient retention capacity to delay the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. DHA/EPA fatty acids also prevent arthritis, joint disorders, as well as inflammatory ailments like diabetes by activating a key receptor on body fat macrophages, resulting in broad anti-inflammatory effects while improving systemic insulin sensitivity. Inflammation, when left untreated, can potentially lead to other diseases.

In this connection, pharmaceutical company Cenovis came up with a fish oil-derived joint repair formulation to address this concern. DHA/EPA also boosts brain health by helping maintain proper communication between neurons to improve brain function and memory while increasing retention, concentration, and comprehension capabilities. Most importantly, these fatty acids help avoid cardiovascular or heart-related diseases by aiding the heart in working properly for better circulation while lowering cholesterol levels. Recent researches also disclosed emerging health benefits of fish oil like promoting better vision in the elderly thus preventing age-related macular degeneration, as well as curb the onset of Alzheimer's Disease.

More studies further show that fish oil can also aid in alleviating aggression and ADHD and prevents cancer by inhibiting the alteration from a healthy cell to a cancerous mass. Prof. Sinclair's years of expertise in the fields of nutrition, nutritional biochemistry, and food science have equipped him with vital knowledge in educating the public about the importance of fish oil in our daily diet. He currently heads the Omega 3 Academy, an independent research institute dedicated to the study of Omega-3 fatty acids and its significance to human health. He is concurrently a professor of nutrition science under the medicine program of Deakin University and prior to this post, he was director of the Metabolic Research Unit, chair of the Animal Welfare Committee, and professor of Human Nutrition also at the aforementioned educational institution. He also held teaching positions at RMIT
University and before that was a research scientist at the Veterinary Research Institute in Parkville. He was also a research fellow at the Nuffield Institute of Comparative Medicine of London's Zoological Society. Prof. Sinclair's interest in nutrition and food science has led him to conduct studies in a wide range of pure and applied biochemical and biological areas.

In all these, he was able to develop national and international credibility through his in-depth studies and research. In the past decade, he has worked closely with collaborators from within Australia as well as from Finland, Hungary, Northern Ireland, the U.S., Thailand, and Japan. His efforts have given him recognitions to various reputable organizations, most notably the Supelco/Nicholas Pellick AOCS Research Award that he earned in 1999. Prof. Sinclair was brought to the Philippines by Cenovis to extend to the Filipino public the value of choosing the right fish oil supplement to gain from the many benefits it provides.

Australian-brand Cenovis is an all-natural fish oil supplement containing Omega-3 marine cardio-protectors that has essential DHA/EPA fatty acids. Compared to other commercially-available fish oil capsules that come from large fishes like shark, seals, as well as cod liver oil, Cenovis comes from the wild yet small DHA/EPA-rich fishes such as sardines, mackerel and herring that have shorter life spans, making them less exposed to water pollutants.

Cenovis Fish Oil is odorless and has no fishy aftertaste. It is extracted from the Peruvian waters, one of the cleanest seas in the world. The product undergoes an eco-friendly production. After harvesting the small fishes, they go to Norway where it is known to be the best technologically in terms of fish oil extraction. After the process, the fish oil goes directly to the Philippines and other destinations for repacking individually so it is easier to carry while preserving its freshness. A capsule of Cenovis Fish Oil daily, which should be taken along meals, ensures one of the recommended dietary allowance for DHA/EPA that is 500 to 1,800mg per day. To fully benefit from fish oil, it is recommended to gradually increase your dosage and make it a point to take it 3 to 6 months to ensure efficacy. Cenovis Fish Oil, Joint Repair and Cenovis Forte are all available in all leading drugstores nationwide.
